The City of Norwich Aviation Museum is located on the northern edge of Norwich International Airport and is reached by road through the village of Horsham St. Faith.
There is a good collection of aircraft including an Avro Vulcan B.2 which flew in to the airport after its retirement from service in 1983.
History
An aviation enthusiasts group called 'Eastern Counties Omnibus Company' was started in 1977 and a temporary site for the museum was secured on the 17/35 runway at Norwich Airport.
By early 1982, the exhibits included an Anson, Westland Whirlwind, Sea Vixen, Dassault Mystere IV and later an Avro Vulcan B.2 which flew into Norwich Airport after its retirement in 1983.
The museum moved to its present site in 1985 and held an air fair to raise funds to expand the museum. Later, more exhibits were added and another air fair was held in 1986.
Over the next few years, services were laid, the main exhibition hall erected and more aircraft have been added. The display areas have also been expanded.
