XXV (Fighter) Squadron operating the Tornado F3 at RAF Leeming officially disbanded on April 4th 2008. A Friends of XXV(Fighter) Squadron Day was held on 29th March 2008 which was open to the public.

Originally formed at Montrose on 25 September 1915, XXV(F) Sqn has a history of serving through both World Wars, operating many different types of aircraft, from 45 locations. The squadron was disbanded on 29th March 2008 after almost 19 years at RAF Leeming, where it arrived to commence its work-up flying with the Tornado in July 1989.
